DOP Leadership Development Programme
Wishing to serve the profession and contribute to the society, the DOP recognises the need for their leaders to be equipped with the skills, knowledge and capability essential to direct the future strategy of the DOP and engage members in this process. With these aims in mind, Work Psychology Group, on behalf of the DOP, is developing a Leadership Development Programme (LDP). The purpose of this programme is to provide potential DOP leaders with the knowledge, skills and abilities that will help them to become highly effective DOP and organisational leaders.
An initial stage in the development of the LDP has included an in-depth literature review focused on leadership and the non-profit sector drawing upon the academic literature, existing research studies and policy documentation from other professions and volunteer organisations. A total of 21 role analysis interviews have also been conducted with key stakeholders including present and ex-DOP Chairs, past and present volunteers as well as leaders from the private sector and the non-profit sector internationally.
An Invitation to all Members to Review and Comment on the Proposed DOP Leadership Capability Framework
We are now at the stage of developing a Leadership Capability Framework (LCF) to help inform the development of the LDP and to clarify the knowledge, skills and abilities expected of a leader within the DOP. We would like to invite you to review the model we have presently developed and to provide comments for our consideration which will assist with finalising the model.
Consultation with members is vital in shaping how the DOP serves the profession and your feedback would therefore be greatly valued. Please use the links below in order to view and provide comments on the model.
Following a short period of consultation, ending on 1st September, Work Psychology Group will then review the feedback gathered from members in order to inform the development of the final version of the LCF.
Please download and read the Framework:
