Division of Occupational Psychology: 2 Month Internship(s)
The Offer
The Division of Occupational Psychology (DOP) has an exciting opportunity for one or two Occupational Psychologist-in-Training to undertake an internship with the DOP Committee. Working with the senior leadership team (the Executive) of the DOP, you will deliver the projects set out below; there is also scope for additional tasks to be identified. In exchange you will have the opportunity to work alongside professional Occupational Psychologists and expand your network. The projects have been selected to provide you with valuable work experience, which could be used towards the QOccPsych and reflected in your CV. Through these projects you will directly contribute to the DOP’s strategic objectives and the development of the profession. In recognition of the excellent contribution you will be making, you will be invited to attend the Annual DOP Conference in January 2012 and will receive one other funded DOP CPD activity to be jointly agreed by you and the DOP Chair.
The Projects
- Membership Project: We are reviewing the criteria for membership and looking at who are our members and how we can best service them. This project will involve close work with the DOP Executive team especially the Chair, to review data and information and to prepare documentation related to the DOP proposal to the Memberships Standard Board for November 2011. The documentation and outline needs to be complete by September 2011. This is an opportunity to look at member engagement and support and will help to shape the future direction of the DOP in terms of member service.
- Leadership Development Project: This innovative programme is now at the action phase. This is an opportunity to work with the selected provider and to input to the direction of the leadership development programme. You will learn about the consultancy cycle in relation to the project and have an opportunity to work with leading psychologists in the Occupational psychology field.
- Partnerships: The DOP would like to identify and make connections with influential and relevant organisations nationally and internationally. You will be asked to scope the relevant organisations and identify points of contact.
- DOP "Policy Unit": The Division has the outline idea to establish a "Policy Unit" (this name is not finalised). Working with the team of volunteers we would like you to formalise the plans for this unit, including developing the terms of reference, and embedding it within the DOP structure.
